چکیده

In this paper, we discuss the methods to minimize the nonlinearity in optical sources and amplifiers used in RoF systems. The non linearity present in a Laser diode is minimized by pre distorting the drive current, by passing it through a predistortion circuitry to achieve a linear transfer characteristics which in turn suppress the harmonic and inter modulation distortions. A feed forward technique is used to reduce the nonlinear distortion in an Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) by adding error signal deduced by mixing input and output in anti-phase to the original signal. We evaluate the system performance due to the effect of both pre distortion and feed forward techniques in minimizing the non-linearity in Laser Diode and optical amplifier.
